Today our backyard slopestyle course is getting a huge upgrade; a dirt transplant. Watch as Kevin and I shovel, rake, slap, and shred this totally revamped mountain bike line.

Anyone have any tips on how to make dirt berms? My friend and I are trying to build one and have been failing miserably.

  • bananas stuff

    bananas stuff

    16 dögum síðan

Honestly it's super hard to say without some experience with your dirt and conditions. A great start is some sifted clay like seth uses in this video, because it packs well. You will want water, but not too much of it. For the radius, roll around the corner (with nothing there) pretty slow (a speed at which you wouldnt be using the berm if it was there) and mark it. Then follow that. You can make corrections based on first test runs. If your dirt is sifted, make sure to pack each layer down by stomping on it. Often it helps to shape it with a rake before hand then doing this. Personally I then like to put some water on this, then out my top layer down, packing that then more water then smooth packing it. You will the want to test it, before letting it harden. Try not to use too much water. For example it rains alot where you live, you probably dont want to use any water as there is a good chance that the dirt is already saturated. Try not to use anything too organic or dusty, as neither of these will pack well. If it is dusty, sift it whilst misting water on it. That will make it like hero dirt until it dries again. If you live in a sandy area, water is your friend. Often it will only go into the top layer, so little and often running up to when you plan to build is a good plan. With clay you really dont want to put too much water into it, otherwise it will never pack or harden. So yeah. That might be a little much, got a little carried away lol. Hope this helps.
